Hey my little eclaires, my return semester at college will wrap up in a couple weeks, which means I’ll have more time for the channel again (at least until I find a real job). So I’m thinking of changing things up with a new upload schedule to mix things up and make the channel more varied and interesting. Instead of let’s plays five days a week (or as often as I can upload them), I’ve decided on the following:

Monday: one-shot let’s plays of indie and/or games too long to fully let’s play, wherein I record myself playing the game for a few hours then cut down the footage to only the funniest parts. This means people who aren’t familiar with the game’s story will likely be confused, but we should end up with more self-contained and funnier videos to showcase the channel and give you a quick fix. I’ll also let you guys vote on what game should be quick-lped next!
Tuesday-Thursday: one regular let’s play installment per day, either rotating different series or we can stick to the same three until one finishes, e.g. bioshovk, skyrim and re4. I’ll let you guys decide what order to upload them in.
Friday: game review, opinion vlog, video game music video, or videos that otherwise don’t fit into the let’s play bracket. Feel free to discuss what kinds of videos you’d like to see in the comments below.
Weekends there’ll be no planned uploads, to give myself a break and give you guys time to catch up on any videos you missed during the week.

I’d also like to start regularly streaming co-op games with you all, possibly on Fridays starting at 12 noon pst so you European fans don’t have to stay up too late to participate. Let me know if that time works for you. If not, maybe we can move it to Saturday.

False Flagging on Youtube (and other such concerns)

Hey, I got a message on youtube earlier asking about false flagging and other LP copyright concerns, and others have asked the same so I thought I’d post my reply here (keep in mind I’m no expert, this is just what I’ve gleaned by my own experiences):

Don’t worry so much about false flagging, youtube has since changed their policies so that you are supposed to actually be from the offended company (and if you say you are and you aren’t, that’s illegal and you can get in serious trouble) so only the most ballsy haters will bother. There is still the risk that the actual company will try to shut you down, but just try researching the games you want to LP, google for “(game name) video removed” and that kind of thing to see if the company has actively tried to remove LPs of their game, make sure your LP has commentary (otherwise it’s just a walkthrough and those are NOT covered by fair use) and look into applications of fair use. Though it’s not a guarantee, it can be at least a possible buffer to getting your videos removed. And look into the various partner channels—they’re constantly changing so I can’t really recommend one over the other, just do your research and try to find one that best suits what you want for your channel, as once you’re with a partner channel you’re basically indemnified against video removal based off copyright, as long as you only LP games by developers that that partner has agreements with.
